Wednesday 15th
Practice afternoon at sunny Craigielaw. Having flown overnight from Cayman (what commitment!) Peter and Steuart join the golfers for a beer after their round . Hadyn also arrives for his 2 night, 1 day fleeting visit from the Isle of Man.
Frank, Robin, John and Graham adjourn to the hotel and Peter, Alan and Steuart to the B + B. Excellent dinner and service at the Golf Inn. Rumour has it that John and Robin were later spotted guzzling malt whisky in the bar.

Thursday 16th
Morning round at Archerfield – Dirleton course – the Robin Finlayson members’ day! Course fairly quiet and conditions good. Graham scores 35 points to set the early pace. Has he been having lessons??
Lunch in the fantastic clubhouse – they really have got it right there. Lots of people we know. Too close to home for some!
Afternoon round on the Fidra course. Graham slumps to 22 points and Alan is back to his normal self with 32. Joint leaders after day 1 are the Fifers Graham and John. Dinner in the Old Clubhouse in Gullane. Very good and great atmoshere. Frank joins us for dinner having been home to see his unwell mother.

Friday 17th
Morning round over Gullane 2. Very slow and blowing a gale. Haydn sees us tee off before heading homeward. Great course with fabulous views – but not easy. Graham returns to form with 33 points but Alan does even better with 36. So after 3 rounds only 2 points separate the top 3, Graham, Alan and Steuart. Only half an hour for lunch before heading out for the final round.
Afternoon round on Gullane 3 – the shortest and easiest course of the competition (but not for Steuart who starts with 1 point over the first 3 holes which wrecks his chances). Very slow and windy again but Graham is rock steady and races to victory with 38 points.
Dinner at the Castle Inn, Dirleton – run by well known Edinburgh restaurateur Bert D’Agostino . Great atmoshere and food. Several familiar faces there. Bob joins us for dinner to increase the wine spend.

Memories of the weekend:-
Wind!
Archerfield quality set up.
Early nights!
Good value golf

Wednesday 14th September
Hotel a bit tired and rooms basic but food excellent and nice bar. Good staff.
Met up for lunch – course a short walk from the clubhouse. Very quiet but windy and wet for part of the round which spoiled it. Frank sets the early pace. Greens average. Good dinner – and bed by 10.30 – we are getting old!

Thursday 15th
Stunning day at Boat of Garten with superb views of the Cairngorms. Counting round in the morning and texas scramble in the afternoon. Hadyn scores 36 points. Another great meal - superb steaks - and bed by - - - 9.55pm. Oh dear! Meet Alan Dalgleish and friends.

Friday 16th
Drive to Nairn across the hills. Cloudy and rainy for much of the round . Still one of our favourite courses and fantastic clubhouse. Graham not in top form and NRs out on the course. Hadyn scores 28 points to narrowly take the title. Pre dinner drinks with Graham’s sister Caroline and hubby Ian. In bed late – 11pm – for some who adjourn to the bar after dinner to regain some self respect!

Memories of the weekend:-
Sunny Boat of Garten
Freshair shots from Graham and Robin
Hitting golf bags on the final day
