Thursday
Met at Tain for practice round. Peter jetted in from Cayman. New boy Haydn drove/jetted from Cheshire/Isle of Man/Cayman. Alan and Steuart had bought new Mercs for the occasion. Own diningroom at hotel (so as not to upset other guests!)

Friday
Beautiful day at Golspie. Very quiet. Average looking clubhouse but better inside. A great day’s golf + very tight leaderboard!

Saturday
Beautiful day again. 4½ hours for morning round. Half an hour for lunch! Only 7 points between first and last - the closest ever competition. The top three blow up in afternoon when tested by the championship course and Steuart sneaks through to win. Golf rules guru, Haydn presented with his tie at dinner and in exchange donates a copy of his best selling book to the Society. We won’t mentions Graham’s trousers at dinner! or Frank’s borrowed jacket! Another great weekend - the best according to Founder member Peter.

Comments
Thursday
Very early Easyjet flight to Belfast. Royal Belfast wet and deserted. No coffee/bacon rolls/welcome. Minibus to Culdaff via Derry. Graham main (fast!) driver – assures us he is in control. McGrory’s is small hotel famed for its music – very welcoming.

Friday
Two rounds at Port Stewart in the wind. Good links course. Impressive clubhouse. Drive via Foyle Ferry (10 mins!) to Nothern Ireland. Good Guinness, food in the evening and fabulous ceilidh band.

Saturday
Two rounds in the wind and rain at Ballyliffin. Great links course. 4h 20 mins morning round, 5h in the Ballyliffin Open afternoon. Tired boys at night but not too tired to appreciate superb band in hotel bar followed by Bon Jovi tribute band in hotel’s famous “Back Bar”.

Sunday
Puncture on drive back to Belfast. Found good venue to watch Liverpool v Man U plus last pint of Guinness.

2006 Outing - Moray Coast – to be organised by Malcolm
