- Dunskie
and Southerness very hospitable. Long drive from hotel to Southerness.
Hotel average. Classy head waiter - "Are you's ready to order?"
George
speeding ticket on way back to hotel. Jacobs Creek at lunch. Slight
starter problems at Dunskie where local gentry pulled rank. Alan convinced
he'd captured trophy but blistering finish from Steuart denied him
by one point.
Good
ale in Portpatrick after Dunskie fiasco.

- Malcolm
arrived two days late - on Saturday! A remote house in the moors with
very personal service. Peter (host) served drinks, Kate served everything
else. Superb meals. Sherry in rooms. Day 1: Bob first to bed
Day 2: Bob last to bed.
Stunning weather at Dornoch, two rounds in blissful conditions.
Three black marks for Graham.
1. Trainers worn to dinner 2. Phone on course 3. Unable to eat smoked
haddock at breakfast despite special request to Kate.
Superb
organisation by Campbell. Peter confirms his status as official society
photographer.

- The
year of the Macallan and the poser phone! Malcolm supplied copious miniatures
prior to, during and after all rounds; poser phone also much in evidence
before, during and after the rounds! Robin tried, manfully, to secure
Macallan audit by consuming as much as possible.
Final
day head to head between Malcolm and Alan; pressure too much for Malcolm
who collapsed 22 points in the afternoon and is inconsolable in the
car on the way home.
The "nearly
man" Alan is triumphant to take trophy south of the border again.
Weather
very wet at Southerness, but tropical at Thornhill.

- Our
first overseas trip.
Irish hospitality memorable. Great weather Thursday and Friday, lousy
Saturday. Bob and Steuart found wanting during p.m. round at the Island
- retired to clubhouse. Same on Saturday p.m. plus Robin. Not good form!
Great pubs in Malahide. Guinness is good for you - we think! Excellent
hotel owned by millionaire, Matt Ryan. Brendan Carrigy for dinner on
Friday.
Malcolm triumphs at last through deadly accuracy and assumes Peter's
title of "Boring little sh---". New Director of Golf; Alan in danger
of securing lifetime appointment. Graham determined to win next year
and get name on trophy.
Malcolm
delegated to organise next year - on condition everyone completes
all rounds. Destination unknown.

- Our
most luxurious venue to date. Superb hotel and setting. Drinks in the
sun on the balcony at Aboyne. After dining in the hotel dining room
on Thurday relegated to private room for remainder of the stay! Lack
of pre-dinner canapes. Ryder Cup weekend. Bob's frog joke the highlight
of the weekend. Standard of golf very high (for WGS) Malcolm triumphs
again (too much practice!) Dramatic fall in wine consumption. First
night six bottles between seven. Second night five bottles between nine.
Campbells first trophy.
