Having been bored with each other's company the year before, the founding members invited Campbell and George to join them. Was this the beginning of the decline in the Society's standards of dress, golf, etc?

Over the first few holes at Nairn West George obviously thought he was still on holiday - spending a considerable time on the beach. Peter's hickory clubs were much in evidence. Were they legal? Where are they now?

In the hope of preventing Peter from completing a hat-trick of wins, Steuart insisted that two new members be added, i.e. Malcolm and Robin. Unfortunately, neither reached the standard expected of them, but George put the previous year's beach/ bunker practive to good use and scored a famous victory, despite almost going off the road in a furious dash between Dornoch and Nairn. Who present can forget his monstrous 450 yard drive (marginally downwind!) at the 18th on Nairn West.

Dornoch - Did you know?

Memorable for the weather! During one round on Nairn Dunbar we experienced snow, wind, rain, sleet and sun. Shelter had to be taken at one stage in a hut on the course. Did nothing else happen that weekend?

Having been told in previous years that he was winning the trophy too often and was a boring little sh---, Peter took umbridge and failed to appear this time. Robin took full advantage and recorded his first "major". Mist in Nairn, 70 degrees in Grantown, allowing Steuart to appear in shorts, much to the disgust and amusement of the others. Champagne cocktails after dinner on the Saturday, (how many jugs?) resulting in:
1. hangovers all round on Sunday
2. George's appearance in salopettes at breakfast prior to hitting the ski slopes to clear the head
and
3. Malcolm being off work on the following Monday (blaming food poisoning).

A poor turnout.

Good course and clubhouse; particular memories of Ulverston Ale. Accommodation in old coaching inn with great atmosphere. Robin really appreciated the stilton and port!
